The Work and Holiday visa is for tertiary educated US citizens aged 18 and under 31 who are interested in a working holiday of up to 12 months in Australia. This visa allows you to supplement the cost of your holiday through periods of temporary or casual employment. You lodge your visa application online and you can collect the visa at Sydney Airport on arrival in Australia.

Note: You must not make arrangements to travel to Australia until you are advised that your visa has been granted. The Work and Holiday visa arrangement is in place for people from Chile, Thailand, Turkey and the United States of America. If you are granted a Work and Holiday visa you can: enter Australia at any time within 3 months of the visa grant date,* stay for up to 12 months in Australia, leave and re-enter Australia any number of times in the 12 months from the date of first entry, undertake temporary employment in Australia, study for up to 4 months.

* please note that for the Phi Beta Dingo program participants arriving into Australia on June 2, 2009, given that the student must arrive within 3 months of obtaining the 462 visa, students should submit their visa application online before April 3, 2009, to give enough time for visa processing.
