An internship is an unpaid, training position that allows students to gain hands-on experience in a workplace environment relevant to their area of future career interest and current course of academic studies. Phi Beta Dingo places students in organizations, companies, government agencies, non-profits, and other workplaces that will provide students a first hand look at what a career in a particular area might be like and how their chosen industry works.

In addition to the 8 weeks of internship work experience in Sydney, the Phi Beta Dingo internship program includes a 6 day, 5 night orientation program in Cairns, Australia in the state of Queensland. The orientation program in Cairns includes, an introduction to Australian culture, a visit to a crocodile farm and a day trip on the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef ecosystem and the largest protected marine area in the world and one of the most visited destinations in Australia.

During this orientation period, students have a chance to recover from the long flight to Australia, get to know the other students participating in the internship program with them, and participate in these great adventure and cultural activities before hitting the 9-5 schedule in the city of Sydney.
